I can remember the excitement I felt when I received a letter from my second grade teacher, Mrs. Greenwood. She wrote me a letter! Took the time and wrote ME, Kelly Kern, a letter! This letter, actually just a short, small note, made me feel like the most important second grader at St. Joseph's Episcopal Day School. I never even considered that she wrote to everyone else, and it didn't matter. My name was on the envelope and Mrs. Greenwood wrote to ME!
If you write us a letter, Mrs. Fligor and I will write you back. As an adult, we both get excited when personal notes arrive in our mailboxes. We have a few weeks left to be summertime pen pals. We can't wait to hear about your adventures and the books you have read! One thing that teachers do not get to do very often is to have a "lunch meeting" away from school. Well, Mrs. Fligor and I had not seen each other for 10 days (a long time for teaching partners) so we had a lunch meeting. Not only was the food yummy, we sat and talked for over 2 hours. We had so much to catch up on...already!
I was up at school today to help Mrs. Alexander and her Pre-K playdate. The Commons was full of kids, adults, and art supplies! It was so much fun! I have been up at school with only adults around, so it was wonderful to hear laughter and to feel the energy on campus. We still have not received any pictures. Mrs. Fligor and I cannot wait to see the fun and creative places you are reading your books. Good afternoon! Today is our official first day of summer, so I am adding the very first blog post of our website. I hope you will enjoy hearing about our adventures. Mrs. Fligor and I will both be posting updates and summertime challenges.
My big, exciting adventure of the day was getting a crown at the dentist. I really wish it was the beautiful kind that Princess Meghan Markle just wore, but instead, it is the kind that will help me chew and eat. (A little important.) READING CHALLENGE #1: Grab a good book, pick a comfortable spot to read. Be sure to get someone to snap a photo of you. Please email it to us at: [email protected]. You will soon see your picture on this site! |
